The Kings of the Marseille de Tarot, digitally reimagined.
The ‘Tarot’ is a pack of playing cards originating from Europe in the 15th century. A trend emerged in the late 18th century whereby certain packs would be used for ‘divination’ (to foresee, foretell, predict, prophecise). Along with the crystal ball, tarot cards became recognised as objects used by fortune tellers to predict the future.
The Marseille de Tarot is the French version of these cards with suits of Bâtons (Batons), Épées (Swords), Coupes (Cups), and Deniers (Coins).
