Armchair Gown

A collaboration with curator Abena Poku and photographer Steve Smith

PRIVATE COLLECTION

Luke recycles salvaged and second-hand materials to create original artworks that combine observations with art historical themes and humour – from the streets of Bristol in England to art galleries, museums and private collections anywhere.

Abena Poku wears a winter gown made of salvaged material stripped from armchairs found dumped in a Bristol Industrial estate. The photograph is informed by worldwide statue debates, fashion photographs and subverts common African > European aesthetic orders and poses.
